"You disturb me."

Wherein Jack ties to review Oscar for those who haven't seen it.

Oscar came out in 1991 and stars Sylvester Stallone. You all know who he is, right? Rocky? Okay, good. Moving on. It also stars Tim Curry who I've heard is a famous actor but I can never place him.

The movie is set in the 1920's and Stallone plays an Italian gangster named Angelo "Snaps" Probolone. (Those who get his last name get points. {I'm looking at some certain Italian sisters I know.})

The movie begins with the death of Snaps' dad, who makes him promise to give him his life of a gangster. Since his dad is on his death bed, and still able to slap him, Snaps has no choice but to make the promise. And that is how things start to get really interesting.

Since he can no longer make a living as a gangster, Snaps decides to become a banker. He plans a day to meet with the fellow bankers so they can decide if this ex-gangster is cut out for the job. Meanwhile, a couple detectives and a rival gang has their eyes on Snaps' house. None of them believe he has given up his life of crime.

The day of the meeting a young man, Anthony, shows up to talk to Snaps and "It is a matter of life and death." It turns out that Anthony works for Snaps and has come to ask for a raise, so he can marry Snaps daughter, Lisa. It also turns out Anthony has stolen money from Snaps which he is now offering to give back in jewels which he keeps stored in a brown bag.

And from there Snaps' day goes from bad to worse when Lisa tells him she is in love with Oscar - the chauffeur who Snaps fired for falling in love with his daughter. Desperate to get out of the house, Lisa tells her parents she is going to have a baby, therefore forcing them to allow her to get married. There is only one problem, Oscar joined the army - and Anthony doesn't want to marry Lisa but Terrisa - his OTHER daughter he didn't know about.

Desperate to get his jewels back, Lisa married, and his job with the bank, Snaps hunts down husbands while dealing with his henchmen who just can't get it through their heads that they cannot randomly shoot people - and a maid who is engaged to the man Snaps originally wanted Lisa to marry. And all the while, brown  bags are moving in and out of the house, drawing the suspicion of the detectives across the street.

This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Tim Curry plays Dr. Poole, a man who is there to help Snaps talk like a banker - and who is one of Lisa's potential husbands. He is enough to keep one laughing alone. Also, the two main henchmen are hysterical, especially Connie. There are two brothers who make suits who have a funny part to play in the disaster as well.

The plot is wild and insane, and most of it takes place in one house in a time period of just a few hours, pure brilliance.

The ending is perfect and causes me to fall over laughing every time.

Now I am going to bed because I've had a long day. Quote is from Psych. I don't remember who disturbs who in this one but I can guess. It was either Shawn disturbed by Lassie or Lassie disturbed by Shawn.

 Allons-y!
