A true Vegas signing — let there be cake!

So. I’m cruising up to the Anthem part of Vegas/Henderson last week on the way to visit a girlfriend. And I pass this sign.

And I think, Pfft. Showboys. If you’re going to call your business Showboy Bakeshop in Las Vegas, you’d better bring it, ’cause there are actual showgirls here and we know showboys. I know showboys. This is a showboy:

This is not a showboy:

Showboy:

Not a showboy:

Anyway. I stop in on the way home, very critical, very judgy yanno, very … show me a showboy, and I’d like a cupcake with that.

And I get this:

And this:

And OMG, this:

And my retired showgirl heart gave a pitty-pat, I devoured a sample and then a cupcake and then another cupcake – because, hand to heart, they were the absolute moistest cakes I’ve ever had in my life (and if you’ve been friends with me on Facebook for any length of time you know how I feel about cupcakes. Those and brisket tacos are pretty much the only reason I work out).

And it’s all because of these guys, Jared and Stephen, who are indeed realio-trulio Showboys.

In fact, Stephen and I missed working with each other in the Folies Bergere by a mere two years, and I’m retroactively sad about that because we basically did the same thing between numbers: created. I wrote my first book, he designed cakes and flavors and ideas for his own business, the Showboy Bakeshop. Perfect for Las Vegas. Perfect for me.

A gratuitous shot of cupcake pops.

All of which is a long way of saying that my first signing to celebrate the release of THE LOST is at the Rainbow B&N in Vegas next Thursday the 21st at 7:00 pm. But at 5:00 pm I’m hosting a coffee klatch for readers (that’s you, this is your invite) in the B&N cafe, and there will be cake.

Oh yes. There will be cake.
