Do People Read Epilogues?

Here's a question for the readers... Do you read epilogues or do you skip them?

I ask this because I have two reviews where the readers comment that a loose end wasn't tied up.

It was... in the epilogue.

I wonder then if that means it is more important to make epilogues a Chapter so people will read them.

Because of this, I won't write any of my book in a prologue or epilogue in the future, just in case.

What is your opinion? Anyone skip epilogues on purpose?

Michael Collins That's the point of an epilogue, to tie up the loose ends. I think it french for 'tie up loose ends at the end of the story, or your publisher wanted to crowbar something in and so you put it at the end to make them happy.' Or maybe its latin. Either way, if they didn't read the epilogue then they aren't ready for closure, I guess.
