The election of Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio to become Pope Francis was a momentous occasion in the wake of Pope Benedict XVI’s controversial decision to step down recently. While Benedict was criticized by some for exiting on non-traditional terms – the first pope to resign in 600 years – it’s interesting that the Catholic church is excited about how, well, non-traditional Francis appears.
