Proper Nouns, Pronouns, and Antecedents

What I’m reading: Guilt, by Jonathan Kellerman

When I write, I move things around a lot. I’m always trying to tighten and make sure things flow. Often, references get muddled, lost, or repeated as I copy and paste a sentence from one spot in a paragraph to another.


teacher_pointing_at_blackboardWhen I look at my day’s output, one of the things I check is the use of proper names versus pronouns. Is it always clear which character (or thing—“it” is a pronoun, too) I’m talking about?
