In which I talk about hunky vampires....

Confession time: When I read Twilight in 2008, I had never read a vampire book before. I'd only seen parts of Interview with a Vampire, but no other vampire movie. I'd never watched Buffy. I'd never seen Lost Boys.
Vampires grossed me out. Probably because of the blood thing. I was much more into wizards and magic and things of that nature. Creatures of the night, no thank you.
Well, then this guy entered my life....
Oh hai, Edward Cullen. Nice to see you and your hair.

Yeah, I was a goner. The BROODING... the INTENSITY OF HIS LOVE. I was totally hooked. So once I decided that vampires were sexy and not creepy they were EVERYWHERE. Which is kind of awesome, yes?
If you follow me on Twitter at all, you know that I am obsessed with Vampire Diaries. I have all the seasons on DVD and I've watched them all several times. Back in the day, I was totally Team Stefan because, well, why wouldn't you be? The HAIR! The FOREHEAD! The melt-your-heart-and-other-places STARE!But then something happened. Something named DAMON SALVATORE. *stares* *falls over*I mean, have you SEEN him? He's just... the bees freaking knees. He's the bad boy. He's the guy that you KNOW you should avoid, but he just... makes you tingly in all the right places. And somehow, he's always there when you need him. I could go on, and on and ooooonnnnnnnnn *has a Don't Stop Believing Moment*
So, what was I talking about? RIGHT. Moving on?
Okay, so I know I'm a traitor to my generation because I'd never seen Buffy. There are a list of reasons why I didn't get to watch it when it originally aired, most of which being we didn't get that channel, and I didn't have cable to watch it in syndication.
But lately I've been seeing a lot of people talking about Buffy, so I figured, why the heck not? I have Amazon Prime, so I can watch the entire series online for free, so I went for it.
I'm only on episode 10 of season 2, but I'm hooked. Um, why did I not know how SMOKING hot David Boreanaz was?  Could someone call the Fire Department? We have a blazing hottie on our hands. And then there's Spike. I don't know him that well yet, but I'm already digging him. *drops to the floor*There's something I noticed about Buffy, after having watched The Vampire Diaries. Spike=Damon and Angel=Stefan. Spike is the bad boy who always has an agenda, he's snarky, he's sexy and dark, but he definitely has a sweet side to him that he tries to repress. Angel and Stefan have got the hair and the brooding forehead and the "I have to stay away from you and keep secrets because I'm trying to protect you!" thing going on.
The other thing about Buffy is that it's like taking a lovely trip down memory lane. Giant cell phones! Overalls! Pagers! ENORMOUS computers! No Facebook!
In one of the episodes a demon was unleashed online and Willow got into a weird relationship with him and all I could think of was that it was the original Catfish.
The other thing I love about Buffy is that I feel that the humor was written specifically for me. Like somehow Joss Whedon has infiltrated my mind, found out exactly what makes me laugh and then went and wrote it into a show. It's AWESOME.
I will probably be doing more vampire-related posts, along with zombie-related posts. What can I say? I have a thing for the undead.
If you've watched Buffy or TVD, what's your favorite episode? My fave TVDs are when Damon and Elena go to Georgia, the first Miss Mystic episode and the rescuing Jeremy from Colorado episode (see a pattern? I'm a bit of a Damon Salvatore fangirl). So far for Buffy, I'm waiting for some more steam to happen, but I gotta say when Angel gave her his leather jacket, I melted into a puddle on the floor. Damn those vampires.

Lisa Joss Whedon is a god...lol...!!!!! I am a huge buffy and angel fan for many years and with much eye rolling from my teenage daughter!!! I am slowly replacing my video tapes with DVD's and I have shelves of books from both series...sad, I know :) The best and most heartbreaking episode is called "remember me" in the Angel series...watch it and I dare you not to blub!! Team Edward all the way and you have to love a bad boy, so it's always been Damon and those killer eyes! I have always been a huge fan of paranormal romance and only now just starting to broaden my horizons with contemporary and YA stories and I am loving them!!! Talking of zombies, have you seen/read "warm bodies"? I'm not into the "gore", but thinking this may be okay? :)

Alissa I absolutely loved the Buffy episode Innocence, the one where she learns of the return of Angeleus after sleeping with him. It was completly heartbreaking but deliciously evil on Angeleus' part. I highly recommend watching Angel, the spinoff of Buffy. It's just as good and some familiar faces tend to pop up.

Jennifer Anything Joss Whedon does is amazing!! But if you dig the humor in Buffy you HAVE to watch his series Firefly! It's my favorite Joss Whedon! And that's saying somethin'.

Lisa Jennifer...totally agree, have Firefly box set on DVD, so disappointed it got scrapped after one series!!! But have enjoyed the recent Avengers Assemble movie, which Joss co-wrote - comic action hero's phew....iron man and Thor never looked so good :)

Jennifer Lisa- the series was Whedon's favorite too. Too bad it aired on Fox. Think if it had started on cable it would have stayed on longer.
And yes, Thor is yummy...In the infamous words of Tina Fay..."I want to go there!"
