For me this scene was very telling and symbolic. Especially the last gif. I don’t wanna sound like a fatalist, but I see the series ending that way, with no one left from the people we knew since the pilot, but the main triangle. And in the last one, Damon and Elena walk away together (aka endgame) while Stefan lags behind looking at the ruins of the past.

This is probably the best TVD post ever
