Fun Stuff to Do in Australia Suggestions?

I am looking for cool stuff to do in Australia, as I will be spending a month there shortly in the areas of the Gold Coast, Melbourne, and Perth for two cons of Supanova and Swancon (that’s the one in Perth).

Any cool suggestions? I should have lots of free time!

We love the outdoors, animals, theme parks, history, nature, cool art and museums, and local stuff.

EDITED because I foolishly got the names of two cons mixed up. I will be at all three of these events, but the con in Perth is called SWANCON, and sounds like huge fun. Octocon is a different event, in Dublin, that I will be attending!
