I started feeling very weird about the meaningless savagery of some comic book heroes, even the most supposedly moral.

My feeling is, yes, have them fight. But goddammit, have them fight for SOMETHING. Make it MEAN something. Make it hurt, make it have consequences.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask as a reader.
