#WritingWednesday Update – Finding The Groove
For the Week of 2/11/13 – 2/17/13
There is something to be said about finding a grove and sticking with it. But it’s something else when you find that groove. It has been such a long time since I fell into the groove and I think the 6,133 words written speak for themselves. Some of that attributes to getting to a point in the manuscript that I had been looking forward to writing since day 1, soo the words flowed a little more freely than they might otherwise have. But some of that also attributes to finding a good schedule and sticking with it.
Sticking with it, will prove to be a much more difficult task. As I look forward into next week, I can already see that my schedule will make it very difficult to find the next 6,000 words over the next seven days. Not only that, but I’m also through that section of the book I’ve been looking forward to so I find myself looking at the start of the third act of the book with a far less clarity of thought than I had as I wrote the end of act 2.
That’s going to be the trick as I move forward. I am not a binge writer, I just often act like it… at least until I found the Magic Spreadsheet. In the past weeks it’s become progressively easier to make the time to in a word count. But I’d like to find a better, more consistent, stream of thought so that the time I do spend writing remains efficient and useful.
So, for next week I’m targeting for 3,500 words. Who knows. Maybe I’ll surprise myself and find that I’m still in the groove after all.
