As promised: my blog part 3 - The Odyssey of this Writer. Here's the link: http://fritz-franke.tumblr.com/. Posted once a week and kept short. Follow if you dare & click if you like for a heckava ride.
Qik Note - I totally forgot to post my blog here last week. My bad. It's regularly on Tumblr but I can't get the feed onto here so I have to copy and paste. Here it goes ... (from last week)
02/12/13
Such a rush of everything today. Still meeting that Tuesday commitment though.
So I began writing The Chosen One from the Savior Project and discovered something profound. Even though I could see the entire story from beginning to end as if it were a movie in my mind, I had no idea how to translate that into words on paper. After a few attempts, I got as far as a couple of paragraphs and it looked like crap. It wasn’t anything like what I saw in my mind and it certainly wasn’t anything like Fantasy/SciFi books I’ve read. I realized that I didn’t know how to write. Frustration set in but the dreams continued. Yes, that’s where they all came from but that’ll be addressed later. So what was I to do?
Well, the first thing I did was to sulk and stay pissed for a while. That sure helped a lot. I finally decided I needed to learn in some organized fashion. I checked into classes at my alma mater, UVa. In the fall of 2007, I took my first Creative Writing course since my days in college way back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth – as my kids would say. I absolutely loved it. And it helped. Next week – Fritz the student.
