George RR Martin, Write like the wind

Well, nothing happened on this day in medieval history. Even those party-crashing Tudors were keeping out of trouble. So this is for my fellow Ice and Fire geeks. Some of you have undoubtedly seen this before, but I am sure that some of you have not, and in any case, it is well worth a second look. So I now give you the heartfelt, hilarious song, George RR Martin, Write Like The Wind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7lp3R...

Wanda Thank you, Sharon. I need to read this series. I have not yet seen the HBO shows either. Soon; very soon.

Sharon I didn't read any of the books till the HBO series, Wanda, even though I'd been told it is very loosely based on the Wars of the Roses. But Sean Bean was in the series, and I'd follow him anywhere, so I tuned in, and liked it enough to want to read the books.

Wanda I did not know Sean Bean so I had to look him up. Can easily see why you would follow him anywhere. For me, this is the guy -

(and/or Johnny Depp).

Gin Tadvick Sean Bean has my vote.

message 5: by Sharon (new)

Sharon And I'll gladly cast a vote for Johnny, too.

message 6: by Gin (new)

Gin Tadvick Have to say I might follow but Sean Bean has held my "heart" for a long time.

message 7: by Sharon (new)

Sharon I loved, loved, loved him in the Sharpe series, Gin.

message 8: by Gin (new)

Gin Tadvick Me too! Another one of my "addictions" that I don't let my husband know about. My kids actually got into the Sharpe series because of my fondness. That gave them something to discuss with my dad - who loved all Cornwall's writing as well as an Sea novel by an English writer.

message 9: by Sharon (new)

Sharon The series led to the books for me, too, Gin. I've been a Bernard Cornwell fan for years now. I especially love his Saxon series.

Gin Tadvick Literary sisters from other mothers. Was your mother an anglophile as well? Mine was. She wanted to be buried there.

message 11: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Not as much as I am, but my family tree is deeply rooted in the British Isles--we're Irish, English, Welsh, and Scots! Did you develop your interest from your mother, Gin?

message 12: by Gin (new)

Gin Tadvick Actually from my father's Uncle who was a genealogist for various groups in the here in the South. I can trace my family back on my Father's side to Lord Petre in Essex (family came over with William in 1066) My father's mothers side were English, Irish and Scots. My mother was the "mutt" mostly English but some German and French thrown in. My mother did get me started with The Six Wives of Henry the Eight on PBS when I was young ... followed by Poldark, The Pallisers... you name it.

Sharon I loved the Six Wives of Henry VIII way back when. I recently got to watch it again on DVD, Gin, and it has held up very well over the years.
