Faking Canadian – Why You Should Be an American (if you’re a good American)

What is “faking Canadian?” It’s not a swear. It’s what Americans do ALL THE TIME when they travel abroad, and it only serves to hurt the rest of us. How? Well, as usual, I’ll let the video do the talking:

Or the drunk singing.

Listen guys, if you’re an American and you’re going to travel you need to remember two things:

1) You’re a guest in someone else’s country. Act accordingly (in other words: they aren’t the foreigner, you are)

2) Things are going to be different than you expect – try to take it in stride and remember that the rest of the world does things differently than, well… the rest of the world

Also you could definitely try to keep your voice down, Americans are notoriously loud. Don’t fight it, just accept it and move on. If you ever want any travel tips, or suggestions on how to get a better experience out of traveling abroad please feel free to ask. A lot of people have a horrible experience for all the wrong reasons when they’re abroad, don’t let that happen to you.

I’ll post more about this in the future, I’m sure, but what have you experienced? What do you wish you had known before you traveled?
