Scripture for First Sunday in Lent

35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” ~ Mark 1:35-37 (NASB)

Heavenly Father, how often I rush through my day—starting the day responding to someone else’s needs or something other than time with You. Yet Your Son, the Second Person of the Trinity, our Savior, began His day praying. How much more do I need to start my day with You. Help me to slow down the morning rush and spend time with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
