This is a fairly through primer on the topic, covering the RØDE VideoMic in this second article, and the Zoom H4n and lavaliere mics in the first article. For the record, I own the VideoMic and have strongly considered buying a Zoom H4n—it seems to be the on-board mic of choice for DSLR cinematographers right now.
