Two books I read many years ago which continue to haunt me:
Rise the Euphrates by Carol Edgarian and
Anil’s Ghost by Michael Ondaatje. The former - the story of the 1915 massacre of Armenians, seen through the eyes of a young girl called Seta growing up in Connecticut - begins with the most beautifully eloquent line: “These are the things that were not lost“.
