intermission

I'm in the UK for a few days with the family for funeral stuff. I think I'm not going to blog for a bit: I'm reading all the condolences, and am touched and grateful. But it's all a bit immediate, and the world can carry on for a week without me.

julie I'm so glad to read you say "the world can do w/o you for a little bit." Society tends to rush us thru times of loss, peppering us w/axioms and adages which often hurt and outrage more than help. Be sure to take all the time you need, and to do all you need in order to tend to your heart. It must sound strange coming from a total stranger, but my heart hurts for you and your family and I'm so sorry you're suffering. From your description of your dad, it seems like you had a good relationship w/him--that's a blessing. I hope you're finding comfort and refuge in the nearness of your family and friends. Please know you're in many thoughts and hearts and prayers--and will continue to be.
Be gentle w/ yourself. And know, also, what a gift your father gave to the world by giving an enourmously talented, imaginative, insightful, colorful man who brings light and magic to countless lives...by sharing a piece of himself with the world.
Take good care of yourself and take your time. Comfort and peace to you and yours.
