How I came to write..

I give credit to my 8th grade teacher. She required us to write short stories. Many of the students grumbled about this assignment. I don't remember what my stories were about, only that this was when I first learned I love to write. Now it seems to complete me.

When my 3rd child was small, I began writing some short stories after the children were in bed. Later, I took one of these stories, expanding it into my first novel, "For the Love of Lisa". I allowed a friend to read my manuscript. Her comments surprised me as I wasn't sure if it was any good. She commented that I had warned her about the steamy love scenes, but had not mentioned the mysteries of the story. She absolutely loved it, telling me I must publish it. I decided to give it a try. I received several rejections, like so many do, especially with their first attempt. I was older than most when they begin to write. I didn't feel I had years to waste sending to publishers and getting rejected over an over like some well-known authors I've heard about, so I began searching for a self-publisher. I chose iUniverse because they give guidance. I have some regrets on my choice, but I'll save that for another time.I debuted with this book September 2010.
