The Rest of the Story...

starsI don't feel much like celebrating.  It's been a sobering several days as the yet to be finalized death toll of the United States' deadliest swath of tornadoes is still being calculated.

Surprisingly, I am even more profoundly affected by the NATO air strikes that kill Gaddafi's son and three of his grandchildren, the cherry on top, the successful Navy Seal assassination of "you-know-who" or "he-I-choose-not-to name".  I choose not to mention his name as he has already been used in the U.S. as a profitable propaganda tool for a good, long decade.

More valuable alive than dead, he was the poster child on behalf of the American sponsored "WAR ON TERRORISM" that has really been a war on control over who controls the masses.  But alas, even successful promotional campaigns come to an end.

GUILT OR INNOCENCE?

My sadness transcends thoughts of guilt or innocence replete with who more deserved to die and who didn't.  Not an act of Nature, the heart of my dis-ease lies in that the latter deaths were calculated, causal at the hands of one brother toward another.

The exact Latin (lex talionis) to English translation of the biblical phrase "an eye for an eye" is actually "The law of retaliation."  The entire quote found in the Old Testament (Exodus 21:23–27) is literally an old and outdated concept.  Gandhi sums it up perfectly when he states, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

Finally, at the end of the day, I return to Facebook looking for calmer waters, rationale, for signs of the middle path, maybe even compassion.  Ah, I spot it, there it is.  The words of one I gratefully name as a balm for my soul; he who knows exactly how I am feeling and with an eloquence I long to emulate:

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

THE REST OF THE STORY...

Make no mistake, the other half of the story is that you-know-who was the poster for terrorism itself.  His mere presence generated a negative force (and resulting counter-force) in the vein of Hitler, Pol-Pot, etc.  This is not a debate as to whether I am glad this negative force has exited the planet.

The view from above compels me to look for the stars in the still of the night.  The sky ever expansive, I connect the dots understanding that violence begets violence.  Instinctually, we intuit the original Law of One as we hold our breath, vigilant for the retribution that has already been promised.

The darkness in the service of the light, I exhale and return to a state of peace, knowing everything is perfect exactly the way it is (counter-force).  After all, the game is rigged, I, or I should say WE can't lose.

Despite humanity's attempts to perpetuate darkness, the "Divine Design of the Creator is imbued within the created".  All of Creation is heart-centered, rooted in love for the purpose of Its eternal perpetuation.  Free will is just us taking the long way to get there - or so it seems.  The Bringers of Light tell us, we already arrived.
