Hey Gail, what´s up? I was just wondering, did you have any involvement in the 2002 Birds of Prey show? Also, what are your thoughts on that one?

I did not, it happened right before my time at DC, and I believe when I took over the book, they had already decided not to renew the series.

To date, I’ve only seen the pilot all the way through, I didn’t want to be influenced. People thought DC forced the Huntress into the comics because of the show, but it was actually me asking for her, to stir things up some. DC was kind of anxious at that point to distance themselves from the show, and in fact the book was likely going to be canceled.

The creator of the Bop show, a magnificent lady named Laeta Kalgrodis, she contacted me and expressed a wish that she could have made the show like our version, or Chuck’s version of the comic, but the network or studio just didn’t allow it.

So I think whatever potential the show had, and there seemed to be a lot, got squashed early on and never recovered. The cast is great, especially Dina.
