Sleeping late.

It’s my first day off after seven days straight at the day job. The one where I have to start work at seven a.m. I have to say, I’m shocked at how much I actually like this early to bed, early to rise shit. Since the store just opened, there are still some tweaks to work out there, but I really like the job. I get to work in an area I enjoy (cameras, photography, electronics) with people I like and respect.

Sounds almost too good to be true, doesn’t it? All I can say to that is time will tell.

Time, that’s the big hitch right now. I’m still getting used to working eight or nine hour days and then coming home and trying to write. So far I’ve been very bad at it. I get home and am completely trashed physically and mentally, and it’s all I can do to cook dinner, and answer emails before hitting the sack. I have a whole new respect for those writers who’ve worked days jobs and written at night. Sure I used to write and work full time too, but I worked at night. So I’d wake up, write, and then go to work. PLus, after bartending for twenty years, it was second nature to me. It required energy, but wasn’t a mental strain like learning the new position is.

I’ve been thinking about how that worked for me, and starting to try to get up even earlier. The plan is to get up and be able to write a bit before I go to work. It’s going to take tim, but I know I’ll get a new system going soon. In the meantime….It’s almost ten thirty on Monday morning, and I just got out of bed. I’m still in my p.j’s and I have a nice glass of cold, bubbly,  caffeine at hand. I am ready eager to write.
