Why Writers Should Keep “Starter Notebooks”

It can be a bound journal such as the one pictured above. It can be a spiral notebook (my personal favorite). It can even be a three-ring binder with page protectors. Whatever its shape, a writer must have a starter notebook. What do I mean by a starter notebook?
