Also, which song do you like best? Which song seems like the best "love theme?" Which song is the most disturbing? Which songs do you enjoy? which songs do you hate? This isn't a real soundtrack or anything, I just like to hear people's opinions :)

This is a very cool idea! I don't listen to music when I'm writing, but there are songs which inspire particular scenes, or even just particular feelings. In fact, Champagne was inspired by two songs, although the end result is far away from these, maybe - I'll leave it to you to decide!Spread Your Wings (Queen): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32qC0...
Champagne (Marc Almond): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh33M...
I heart Queen :) Love the Marc Almond song too! I think both songs really reflect the book's mood...dark London nightlife in the 80s...atmospheric to say the least! With Crush, I would listen to songs on oldies stations and classic rock. I also listened to a lot of New Wave. Longtime lover of Billy Idol and Depeche Mode. But the songs didn't concretely register to a scene until after the book was completed. For instance, I thought of a fun Pretenders tune for that infamous (I guess LOL) kitty style scene. The scene had been written, and later the song felt perfect as I'd mentally play out that scene.
With Bright, it's almost like certain songs are helping me write chapters and establish character's personalities. I adore the group Daughter and American singer Annie Barker. I also love the roughneck spirit of Lynyrd Skynrd (I never could spell it right)!
Favourite AND maybe most disturbing (certainly fitting to the moment) on your Crush soundtrack: Alice in Chains - Down in a HoleI've not heard of Daughter - must investigate. But I'm with you on that one - the songs mostly come to mind once the story forms, rather than beforehand.
I think the Marc Almond song is my fave of the 2 you used. But I'm prejudiced now that I've gotten a good glimpse of him heheh!!!Down in a Hole strikes me as a darkly romantic song. I adore Alice In Chains. I was also surprised at myself for picking H. by Tool...very dark but also tender.
The one I laugh at the most is Sex Room by Ludacris. I never ever envisioned a sex/love scene for that. I based a lot of the "top 40" pop stuff/hiphop on the fact that high school kids tend to favor whatever is "in" at the moment, and high school kids have frequented the End (the bar in town) for years.
Besides, the lyrics of Sex Room are pretty raunchy, and too indicative of the female anatomy to be good for any gay love scene. Ugh, can you imagine LOL! I tend to like the melody of this song (quite pretty, along with Trey Songz singing) better than the lyrics.Another funny example is that I have put "Erotic City" by Prince in my dream list for Bright LOL. Another pretty song with nasty lyrics!
Yes - you capture that bar so well too!My current challenge (maybe you'd like to join me?) is to write a short story to another Marc Almond song 'Bad People Kiss'. Will send you the MP3...
Daughter is so awesome!!! I put 3 of their songs, Love, Home and Candles on the Bright list. I love her voice, the lyrics, and the different percussions on the 3 songs. My fave is definitely "Love".
That Almond song is very...I can't even describe it. Man I can come up with a naughty story from this!!!!! Thanks for sending it :)
I also love Telepopmusik, Laura Marling, Jen Gloeckner and a Spanish group called Stendhal Syndrome.
