With or without you

The dawn was coming as the sun was coloring the landscape in hues of gold, pink and blue.
Even though there was a nip in the air, Tabbruis opened the door to the terrace to let some sea breeze waft through the bedroom.
Sandra had just gotten her sixth cup of coffee from Shane.
Tabbruis went on the terrace looking at the castle grounds as it was covered with dew and some fog. He thought how many times had he been out on the terrace not watching the sea, but kept his eyes on Charmeine.
Maybe his lack of faith is the reason he ended up in Hell in the Lake of Fire and Torment. However, he remembered what she said to him last night before the battle. He rubbed his neck because it was like she was speaking to him now. Softly he could hear her whisper in his ear:
You must feel that self-determination now. I need it, and need the determination you give me. However, it is a necessity to let God be your rock. Everything flows from His love. Drink it down, and let His love envelop you and squelch any doubts you may have.
Tabbruis was still out on the terrace and looking at the dawn, he declared out loud, “As God as my rock, I believe. I will be worthy. I will not let Lucifer’s tricks put doubt in my heart.” He heard a knock at the door and answered it.
Laura and Thomas came in. Immediately Laura was asking Sandra questions while getting out diagnostic instruments out of her bad.
“Oh thank God. What took so long?” Tabbruis asked.
“I am sorry, but Laura and I had to go to Bucharest at the Coltea Hospital to retrieve medical supplies and diagnostic instruments. It was not easy getting everything she needed in the middle of the night. However, I was able to ‘convince’ some night attendants to giving us everything she needed.”
“Convince Thomas? You hypnotized them into doing it, that’s what you did.”
“Laura, my love, I will make an anonymous donation to the Coltea Hospital to recover their losses.”
Laura asked Sandra to take her blood pressure. As Sandra began to take her pressure, Laura lifted her eyelid and scanned her pupils with a light. After she talked to Sandra, she took a big breath.
Laura looked at Tabbruis and Thomas with a smile on her face. “Thank God, our Queen’s vitals are good, better than they were last night.” Laura got out another instrument of her bag.
“Mom’s a fighter. See Dad? She will be okay,” Sandra reassured him with a smile.
A knock at the door sounded. Tabbruis opened the door, and it was Shane.
“Char’s still out of it? Huh?”
“Yes, but Laura said her vital signs are better than they were last night.” Tabbruis still had a look of worry on his face.
“That’s good news Dad,” Sandra said as Shane kissed her on the cheek.
“Yes, it is good news,” and Tabbruis hugged her. “Thank you Daughter for always taking up for Mom even when I could not. Your Mother tried to tell us the battle in Athens was not right, and you took her side.”
“Yeah, but hey Dad that’s all water under the bridge. Mom knew in her heart everything would be okay, if we believed.”
“Sandra, your Mother and I think you are a wonder.”
“It’s simple Dad, you’re my posse which means everything to me.” Then Sandra kissed Shane again and returned to Charmeine’s side to take more vitals.
Dmitri and Hera and their children, plus Neal and Hameal, came down the hallway to check on her.
Tabbruis shook his head when he saw them and reiterated, “Charmeine has not come out of it yet.”
Shane asked, “Is there anything we can do? I sure hope she isn’t asleep for a long time Dad. Last time, it was torture for you and us all.”

Laura

Laura was pacing the floor back and forth by the bed. She said in total frustration, “God, what I wouldn’t give for a CAT scan, MRI, an old-fashioned X-ray machine or even a proper lab for pathology tests. Damn it!” Her hands began to spark purple, and she knotted them in fists. “Sandra, if she doesn’t come out of it soon, I’ll have to start a Saline IV 9% Ringer’s Lactate drip.” Her hands began to die down and she paced more.
Thomas put his hand on Laura’s shoulder and counseled, “My love, you are doing everything you can, you must have faith and believe God will show you the way.”
Tabbruis smiled at the comment and looked over his shoulder at Thomas soothing Laura because it sounded and looked exactly like something Charmeine would say and do. He said to himself, ‘There are other people like you my love. Those of us who are impatient need you so much.’ He looked at her, and she looked so pale and weak. It looked like she was just skin and bones.
“Oh my… I will see to it the castle has a proper Hospital set up immediately. I will make the necessary acquisitions for a suitable clinic for you and Nurse Sandra… who apparently can do anything.” He winked at her like a kind grandfather.
“Sandra is definitely a woman of substance. Babe’s like a lion in a lamb’s body.” Shane bent down to kiss her.

Dmitri

Laura looked up at Dmitri with bright hazel eyes. Joyfully, she asked, “Can you really get me a Hospital here? Everything we need for diagnostics and lab too? I have to warn you that it will cost a fortune and take a lot of manpower Dmitri.”
“Absolutely and quickly we will get it done, Laura. Money is no object. The castle has Light-Bearer’s residing in it now, and they will need medical attention from time to time,” Dmitri answered.
Laura giggled and grabbed Thomas. “You helped me put that small Hospital together in Liberia. Remember?”
“How could I forget, my love? I moved Heaven and Earth to get it done swiftly because of the outbreak of measles and the threat of disease spreading.”
“Thomas, would you please help Dmitri with the equipment set up? Could you get it done without delay? STAT?”
He smiled and nodded touching her cheek with the back of his fingers. “Yes my lifesaver, I will work with Dmitri, and we will have it as soon as possible.”
Laura smiled blissfully and closed her eyes in relief.

Thomas

Thomas hugged her tightly.
“Hameal and I will help also,” Neal volunteered.
“I’m helping too,” Shane added.
“We will all help and get the Hospital running.” Hera held the hands of Percival and Athena. They nodded and smiled.
“Very good, thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Laura welled in tears.
Then she looked over to Charmeine and resolved, “We have to let her rest. Without more diagnostic equipment, I will assume her body has been through a shock and there isn’t anything to do but wait, unfortunately.”
Laura turned to Sandra and ordered, “If she doesn’t come out of it soon, start the prescribed IV. I assume you know how to start one?”
Sandra was just about to answer yes.
Shane interjected, “Oh yes, Babe’s infamous in our squad with a perfect stick every time.”
A little embarrassed, she looked at him and explained, “I keep Shane around because he’s head of my fan club, my entourage.”
“You are a wonder, and yes, I am the head of your fan club.” He bent down and kissed her on the neck which noticeably made her melt.

Tabbruis

Tabbruis turned to everyone and quietly said, “I will call you all when Charmeine awakes, and I promise all of you, everything will be alright.”
“I’m not leaving her side Dad.”
“I’m staying with her too.” Laura was taking her pulse and then checked her reflexes with a small hammer.
“Yes, I would prefer it if you two did.” He looked at everyone else. “Now, I think she needs her rest.” They all started to leave.
Laura shouted, “Tabbruis!”

Sometimes it takes extreme courage to wait!
It should be easy but more often than not, it is hard to do.
