The Happy Insomniac

http://www.dreamstime.com/-image9172185Yeah, that’s me. Well, I’m also waking up tired, but that’s beside the point. I absolutely love it when the reason I can’t sleep is that ideas for my work-in-progress are popping into my mind so quickly I can barely keep track of them.  Example from last night: A door that should have been locked was found ajar. A cop turns out to be my protagonist’s old lover, now married to her best friend. Her brother, heretofore unknown to me, ran away as a teen for mysterious reasons. And on and on the ideas came during the hours when I should have been sawing wood. I was too sleepy to write everything down but the images were so vivid I still have them with me today. If I have to be an insomniac, at least I’m a productive one!

How about you? How is your sleep these days?

Teri About the s ame...except I. Am up reading! I like to read before bedbecause that's my " me" time Sometimes I stay up reading til 1:30 am then I am up at 6:30 for work. Not complaining..but my love of reading is what keeps me up at night.

Lisa I don't want to jinx it, but after I read I usually sleep like a log! Most nights I tend to have some strange dreams, but I never can remember them!

Rachel Miller I cant remember the last full nights sleep I had, oh the joys of having a baby. Perhaps I should use my awake during the night time for some productive creative thinking!

Kathy Maher Well, I'm not a writer (yet) so for me I love when a book is sooooo good I can't put it down to go to bed. It's a GREAT book when I wake up in the middle of the night or early in the morning (I'm not a morning person) to read.
