I couldn't agree more!! My son told me about this book that his 4th grade class is reading called 'Wonder" by R.J. Palacio. Charlie (my son) asked me if we could buy the book and sit down as a family and read it. Of course I said, "yes!" For all parents out there, I highly recommend that you buy this book and start reading it with your children. It really touches your heart and teaches your child how mean kids can really be and how no one wants to look different. This book has really touched home with my children and they feel so bad for this child. Both my kids said to me that they would always smile at someone that looks different and make them feel comfortable and want to be their friend. I can't tell you enough how WONDERFUL this book is. Please buy it and read it with your children. Not only does it give you that special time with them, but it will really teach them how we are all equal no matter what we look like and how badly it hurts others when you make fun of them or look at them in that unfriendly way. Kids to day are just so mean and it's up to us as parents to teach them that making fun of other children that look different is hurtful, mean and down right CRUEL!
