I agree with this, but I would like to point out other strong characters from the Harry Potter books: Luna Lovegood (tortured and never gave up her friends), Mr & Mrs Weasley (compassionate in the face of social ridicule, sacrificing for their family lifestyle, talented “auror-level” fighters who stood up for what was right while maintaining every day “service” capacities), Minerva McGonagall (stringently defending the children of Hogwarts and never once said “I can’t” or “I don’t know how” or “hope someone comes to rescue me,” we get the idea she has been preparing all her life to be one of history’s finest ass-kickers), Jenny Weasley (popular and pretty, funny, kind, and athletic, not above moving on when her boy of choice isn’t interested—waits for him when she knows it’s right, respects herself enough to know which to do when), Ron has his moment of being an eff up but he grows up, Fred & George (valiant pranksters—have to stop here bc I’ll cry again).

We get more of Hermione than any other female character, but don’t discount the Lovegood, and all the rest on the list.  These books were chock-full of heros.
