Among the landmarks of my adolescence, HMV stands tall. I remember walking down to the store on 86th and Lexington to buy Americana by The Offspring the day it came out–November 17th, 1998–as well as the sensation of crinkling cellophane and the strangely delicious smell of freshly-printed liner notes.That store was replaced with a Best Buy years ago, and nowit seems that HMV itself is headed the way of the CD.
