Very nice Ilsa. I actually picked up Ashes with the original cover on it and it grabbed me pretty well with that.

It was the original cover that caught my eye - I first discovered Ashes due to a post card advert in a cinema. Although I like this one, and prefer your original to the imitation, I'm not sure why a second cover was needed. You could always go back to the first edition style, but then that might look as though you're backing down. Hmm.
I like both covers. Although I think I prefer the first cover because that's what I read. It kind of conveys mystery. And I remember when I saw I thought like "what's with the mask looking thing and the lines sort of cut out?" It really made me want to find out more.

If and when the rights revert back to me--NEVER, I hope, because I want people to enjoy these books for years to come--then I might.

Here's a thought...you could possibly sell even MORE of "Shadows" because if an unsuspecting buyer were not paying attention and looking for "Sketchy" then saw the similar "Shadows" bought it and then immediately was hooked and then realizing that it's the second in a series now has to go BACK to the bookstore and get "Ashes"...sucker!! just a thought ;-)

personally I prefer the cover for ashes released her in the UK.... it's a girls face and then below along the bottom is a city in ruins and on fire ( it's like a golden brown) and the shadows one is cool too that's the same but with the cannibals running all along the bottom ( that's blue green) anyway the cover thing isn't a problem lots of YA books ha've virtually the Same covers an it's the content that matters!!!
