Back on Deck

I’m back and recovered from Christmas and New Year, which takes some doing I tell you. Dayjob work starts for me again on Monday (sigh), so I’ll be returning to my usual routine of up at 5, write, go to the dayjob, go to the gym, come home and be mum, collapse into bed at the first opportunity. I never would have thought I’d say this, but I’m kinda looking forward to it.

I know. It’s nuts. Not that I’m aching to return to the dayjob, but it is what it is. I have to earn the dough so off to work I go. What I’ve missed the past few weeks has been the routine because I’ve come to realise it’s the routine that makes everything in my life move forward. I’ve been on the computer a fair bit the past month, but I haven’t gotten a single new word written since I finished Unforgettable Summer at the beginning of December. Not. A. Word. I’ve been answering emails, organising blog stuff (the Aussie Author Showcase is going to start next week at the Divas blog, so make sure you check it out), surfing around, buying books, even editing… but writing? Like I said: Not. A. Word. I look forward to changing that statistic.

I had a few great achievements in 2012. I got back on the publishing trail for the first time in 3 years with Erica’s Choice, which was also my first ever MMF erotic romance (and the longest book I’ve ever written at 80k). Much to my relief, the book has been very well received too (Erica’s Amazon page is as starry as a night sky–so pretty). I was welcomed into the Bandicoot Cove series and got to write with my mates Jess and Lexxie for the first time ever. I loved writing Moonlight MIrage and fell hard in love with Mitch’s uptight stuffed-shirtyness… and Ty’s laid back loutish Aussieness (hence Unforgettable Summer had to be penned). I also picked up a new publisher in Ellora’s Cave, and will have my first book, Just One Taste, coming out with them next year (madly editing that one now). I did get some other good news just before Christmas but I can’t reveal it quite yet, not until there’s paperwork. But I do consider it a 2012 achievement.

So come on 2013, let’s see how much we can get done.
