Origin:

1820–30;  < French,  equivalent to in- in-3  + souciant  present participle of soucier  to worry < Vulgar Latin *sollicītāre,  for Latin sollicitāre  to disturb; see solicitous


Example:  Here is a modern master of insouciant humor, Colin Mochrie, performing on the TV show "Who's Line Is It Anyway?"   (One of the funniest shows ever produced!)
