It's that time again

First, my schedule for 2013 (so far, anyway) is now up. Click here to see if I'll be in your area sometime soon! And to head off the questions of "But why don't you come to [insert city, state, country, etc]?!" it's because I go where the conventions are or where my publisher sends me, and if I don't limit my travel to only a few places each year, then readers won't get new books. Some writers excel at writing while traveling, but I've never managed to write anything worthwhile when I'm on the road, so I have to plan travel around deadlines and that means I'll never hit all the places readers want me to come to. I hope you understand.

Second, I heard from my publisher that Arcs (Advance Reading Copies) for Twice Tempted will be coming soon. If you haven't seen the note on my sidebar, I already have a contest up on Goodreads for 10 Arcs of Twice Tempted. In addition to that, I'll be running some blog contests in the near future giving away more Arcs. If you're a blogger/reviewer and you want to be sent an advance copy for review purposes, I'm sorry but I don't have any to give you. I'm only sent a small number of Arcs and those go to contests. You can, however, contact my publicist at Avon and request one by emailing Jessie.Edwards AT harpercollins DOT com (obviously fill in the @ and "." signs in your email instead of spelling them out). Please note: Contacting Jessie isn't a guarantee that you'll get an Arc. Publicity only has a limited number of Arcs, too, but nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that.

Third, this is also the time where I do my usual request for music recommendations. As many of you know, I write while listening to music and I've run through everything on my playlists. I tend to prefer rock and alternative music, with a little pop thrown in for good measure. Some bands that frequently appear on my playlists are: Three Doors Down, Breaking Benjamin, Within Temptation, Kings of Leon, The Fray, Coldplay, Florence and the Machine, Vertical Horizon, Staind, Pink, One Republic, Adele, Sarah McLachlan, Smashing Pumpkins, and Seether. If you have any song recommendations from bands like these, please share them in the comments. You guys are responsible for over half my playlists with your recommendations, so thank you in advance :).

And finally, Happy New Year, everyone! Hope 2013 is treating you well so far.

You could also try "Love Bites[But So Do I]", "Mz Hyde", or "Daughters of Darkness" all by Halestorm, the lead singer has a great voice if you like those tough sounding chicks!!! Kendra Holst You should definitely give Receiving End of Sirens a listen. They're one of my favorites. They have very poetic lyrics, and the guitar is pretty good. For excellent instrumental and decent lyrics, Neurosonic.

message 20: by Meggin (new)

Meggin Can't wait to read Twice Tempted! I'm so excited I started reading all your books again. Wish you were coming to Chicago. I would have loved to meet you!

message 21: by Marty (new)

Marty Some bands I like are Mumford and Sons. Their first CD was fabulous and I just got the second one.

I also like The Avett Brothers from Matthews, NC. (Near Charlotte)They defy genre and sing 98% original material. It's a blend of rock and folk with an occasional grunge growl. Their live shows have incredible energy and are great.

message 22: by Andy (new)

Andy Wilkerson Man, I wish Texas was in your line up. Maybe next time! I am so excited about the next book.
Imagine Dragons is an amazing band, "Radioactive" and "Bleeding Out", being my favorites. "Sweet Disposition" by the Temper Trap is a good one. "Figure 8" and "Anything Could Happen" by Elle Goulding are both really awesome songs that I enjoy working to. Last suggestion (even though it isn't exactly alt or rock) is Lindsey Stirling...try Crystallize and Elements to see if it would be up your alley.

message 23: by DeAnna (new)

DeAnna The fact that you listen to Seether, which is my all time favorite band, reaffirms that you are my favorite author. I love you!

message 24: by Desiree (new)

Desiree Rico I would love to make it to one of these signings....i'll try my best to make the trip. ..also crossing my fingers for the giveaway since the contest ends on my birthday Im hoping that's a good sign in my favor!

message 25: by Monique (new)

Monique Lebrocq Okay, music is kinda like my second love (after books.) Looking at your list, here are my suggestions...Muse, Silversun Pickups, Arcade Fire, and Metric are kind of the obvious ones. Lesser known alt music suggestions...A Silent Film (their freshman album "The City That Sleeps" was my favorite album of 2011), Girls, Broken Social Scene, M18, Interpol, and the Dandy Warhols. If I want to hear some girls that rock I usually go to Garbage or No Doubt (both groups put out new albums this year.) If I'm in the mood to write a love scene, I like Ivy. I think I have four Ivy albums, and I love every single song. Be interested to hear if you like any of my suggestions.
