When I'm signing books at a school, I'll usually check the printing information to see if a book has moved to a higher reprint number. (That information is found in a top-secret super-complex nearly unbreakable code that looks like "0 9 8 7 6 5" or, for some publishers, "5 7 9 10 8 6."
