Star Wars Flashmob in Cologne, Germany: The power of myth
As I said yesterday, my wife and I are on vacation. We are presently not concerned about what is going on in the world of dysfunction, where an inept management group called the Federal Government is struggling to turn the debt clock back the other way because those idiot politicians have made too many promises to give too much stolen tax money away to too many people in exchange for a vote. The Government in America cannot manage the finances of The United States and the country is going over the fiscal cliff. Now gun grabbers terrified of their own shadows are looking for safety from the same imbeciles that can’t even balance the country’s checkbook for solutions. But as I said, in the darkest of times, my family has always found comfort in the fantasy stories of Star Wars, because the ideas of that old-fashioned myth are the ones that unite virtually every single person on planet Earth no matter what their philosophic background, or countries origin. Star Wars has as much power in the suburbs of The United States as it does in Tokyo, Japan as demonstrated by the WDR Radio Orchestra when they surprised crowds on the streets of Cologne Wallrafplatz, Germany with the well-known tones from a galaxy far, far away…………
Nicht das schöne? Was für ein Spektakel! The power of myth bypasses even language barriers. It says a lot when a flash mob orchestra can set up a spontaneous set of Star Wars and instantly everyone on the busy streets of Cologne stop and listen intently with much delight. There is magic in Star Wars that transcends all demographic barriers as the truth told in those stories is universally understood.
I have found that the best way to deal with those who do not see things the same way as the rest of us do is to find the common ground and work from there. Such a thing does not require a compromise of beliefs, only an understanding that the differences between one view and another is usually in education. One party might be educated incorrectly. They might have held long-standing beliefs that have proven irrelevant, or their beliefs may have been formed by minds hungry for power. However in Star Wars there is a truth that is easy for everyone to feel, and there is a real magic when that musical composition is played no matter where in the world people hear it. There is a truth in that music reflected in the story that the music helps to carry on its back.
The world is full of corruption, evil, and diabolical fools, and America is suffering from many of them who have managed to lie, steal, and manipulate themselves into power. When they all bite the dust, the majority of us will have to pick up the torch and carry on, and when we do we have to work from common ground. It is Star Wars that holds a key to that renewal on planet Earth that is so pivotal in how the next century will transpire. In that far away place, there is a truth that is useful today.
As America heads over the fiscal cliff and Europe plunges into bankruptcy due to socialism advanced by the European Union, even people in the seemingly remote area of Cologne, Germany can feel the force of Star Wars and the magic that comes from one of the greatest myths ever created. It is in those notes of music played with such spontaneity that the human race has its best next hope in the long line of hidden tyrannies of many failed governments and the desire to rule over those they perceive as weak.
Now, back to my vacation, I have bad guys to punish and space ships to fly!
