I like to draw. I've always liked to draw. Although what I draw with is now a lot more sophisticated than a pad of paper and a box of crayons.

So, when a website I belong to announced an art contest, I was excited. It's a fantasy website where you can breed fantasy animals, decorate their pictures, and collect items. It's called Khimeros.

I drew an unshaded sketch (like what you'd see in a coloring book) and scanned it into my computer. The picture was of a girl next to one of the site's fantasy creatures, called a khirin. I was going to color the picture, and enter it in the contest.

There was only one problem. I hated how the khirin turned out after coloring. I didn't know why, but I was sure it didn't look right. It must have been a number of small things that didn't fit in, but I couldn't decide what they were. So what did I do? Erased the whole thing, of course! Forget that I'd already spent an entire hour (or more) working on it. It didn't look right, so I deleted it. And started over. Fun, fun, fun.

Perhaps I should have altered what was already there, instead of starting completely over. Maybe that would have been the smart thing to do, yes?

Any other artists out there? Do you have any funny stories you'd like to share?
