Story in New Collection!

I'm happy to announce that I have a story in a new collection debuting in January 2013. "Cat's Cradle" is part of the "Time Yarns" series of of short fiction anthologies. After I read "The Anarchy Zone" — another "Time Yarns" book, I decided to write a story that met the "Cat's Cradle" specs — a cat and some element of time travel.

My story is entitled "Locard's Tale." The protagonist is a forensic scientist with a specialty in analyzing animal hair evidence. His cat, Locard, is named after the father of modern forensics. Locard's principle was that it is impossible to do something without leaving a piece of yourself behind. It might be a fingerprint or a seed from a plant in your home. If you happen to be a long-haired cat, you're very likely to leave some cat hairs behind.

Look for the collection, edited by Erin Lale, early in 2013.
