Death Party

The Apocalypse? No worries. Death has you covered. But no, it’s not today. All that fuss was for nothing. Life goes on – for most of us. To celebrate, Death’s throwing an Apocalypse – NOT! bash on my Facebook group. I hope you’ll join in tonight from 7:00 to 9:00 PM here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/388242967924575/

Would Death have been able to handle a sweeping harvest of souls? Hell yeah. If you’ve read Death Is A Bitch, you know those charms on her silver bracelet are more than decorative. They’re the tools of her trade. A few are mentioned in the story, but there’s one that’s top secret. The Doomsday charm. One press of that, and whoosh – all of humanity would enter the Afterlife.

The master Inksman Malean added a special feature to Death’s tattoo for the occasion. Eventually, there will be an End of Days, and the flood of souls through the tattoo would overwhelm her if not for the kill switch Malean added. Yes, Malean loved that pun. He has a black sense of humor.

I’d planned this special soiree for weeks, but after last week’s tragic shootings in Connecticut, I hesitated to go through with it. I decided to, after realizing that the character I created for Death had a soft spot for children. She found it difficult to harvest their souls, and so pampered them. A Death with heart? Yes, I really needed her to be tough but tender, too.

Part of the reason had to do with my parents. I lost them both during the past few years, and one of the scenes pays homage to my Dad, who was left behind after my Mom died. He wanted so badly to see her again, he was ready to die. The scene with Harry and Jo pays tribute to their love, unrestrained by boundaries such as time and the line between life and death. So it was a comfort to create a Death who was caring rather than the stereotypical skeleton with a scythe.

Mythology and humor play into Death Is A Bitch as well. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it!

Available from Decadent Publishing.

By the way, this month it’s half price at Coffee Time Romance!!

Eternity can suck when it’s all work, work, work. Death harvests souls even when they stack up faster than pancakes in an all-you-can-eat-buffet. No wonder she can’t shed the Grim Reaper rep.

As the patron angel of death and dying, Azrael works closely with Death but is dying for true intimacy. She’s the only immortal who’s ever aroused such powerful emotions in him. One taste of her leaves him needing her like humans need air and food, but will a demon’s lies leave a bad taste?

No one escapes Death – except King Sisyphus. Twice. With the help of Damien the demon, Sisyphus tries again, and she’s determined to have justice. Some say Death’s a bitch, but only when she has to be. But will the price of justice be a broken heart?
