What a lovely question! (And agreed, so many wonderful books coming out in 2013.) 

My family was never particularly big on the holidays, but I love them, and one of the treats of being an adult with my own tribe of marvelous peoples has been creating new holiday traditions with them. My favorite is what we call the Holiday Hootenanny, when a bunch of us meet up (with guitars, drums, the occasional ukelele) to sing Christmas songs (other stuff tends to work itself into the repertoire- bluegrass, Whitney Houston, a little Taylor Swift), drink mulled wine, and be generally ridiculous.

Also, on the last day of the year, I take a little trip out to a place that I’ve been visiting since I was a kid. I spend some time there by myself, giving thanks for all of the really lovely, miraculous thing in my life.
