Nearly a week has passed since tragedy struck Sandy Hook Elementary School in
Newtown, Connecticut. In the coming weeks the world will return to life as usual,
but for many time has stopped.
These families need our continued prayers. I thought on this little blog space today
we could pray together.
Here is one of the prayers I’ve written…
Sweet Jesus, we come to You broken-hearted for the families and friends in
Newtown, Connecticut. We have no words, only tears. So, we turn to Your
Word… “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted,” Matthew
5:4 (NIV).
Oh God, comfort them. Hold them close. Restore hope. Lavish Your most
tender mercies upon every soul weeping in the midst of this deep sorrow.
We ask this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
I would like to invite you to leave your own prayer in the comments below. Your
comments will be a beautiful collection of heart-felt prayers helping to carry the
deep grief of others to our Comforter, our God.
