Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, oh my! But What's Next?

It is becoming harder to create something that's quite new and unique within the fantasy genre. Vampires, werewolves, witches, all have been done, and then redone... and they will continue to be written about.



But, what I want to know is, what next?



And the only thing I can really think of is MERMAIDS and MERMEN! It is the only answer. (For me it is anyway.)



I can remember when I was little and I stayed at my nana's house on the weekends and we'd watch The Little Mermaid (still my favourite Disney film), and I could always remember wanting to have a fin, and be able to swim with sea creatures and, of course, breathing under water.



I have seen a few mermaid-esque stories surfacing and it's made me think about the stories I've put on the backburner so that I could focus on my witchy and my vampire ones. I have a really awesome mermaid story to tell. So watch this space of the internet as Joe is getting his mermaid pelt on.



I actually have a short story: Bait, which has mermaids, witches, and vampires. It is only 20 pages or so, but it is the beginning of a longer piece. You can get this over at Amazon.
