Autumn's Glow

A poem I wrote a few years back. Enjoy!
Morning sings on the scrub jay’s wingsAutumn glows in leaves of goldTime condensedNew urgency sensedSquirrels store their precious bountySeason’s hearth fires crackleMarshmallows are roastedFrozen noses peek out under woolen capsOn the eve of hibernationMorning mist casts its net across usAnd we reflect
We yawnWe restWe gather for our festWe eatWe drinkWe are merry as we meet
Remembrance sweet and poignantFills our minds, our hearts, our daysOur nights are spent ’neath comfortersBundled for the chill encroachingHeartbeats heard more easilyThe bustle in slow motion
A soft smileA gentle glanceA simple touchAnother chance
