I’m not sure I understand.


First, I have seen time and again that the cosplay community as a whole is absolutely fine with people playing characters outside of their own race, as long as nothing awful like blackface or brownface is involved. I don’t think that disqualifies you from being the best at anything.


Second, it’s purely subjective. I mentioned those particular cosplayers to make the point that cosplay runs from very, very close to the exact physical match of the character to much more casual and inexpensive cosplay. I was quite adamant that I love both and everything in between.


I’m honestly maybe missing your point. Did you think I was sidelining cosplayers who were not close physical matches?



I assure you, nothing could be further from how I feel. I love pretty much all cosplayers and I think I’ve been pretty clear about that.
