Last night I went to a lecture on identifying bird calls, figuring that it was 1. Free, 2. Near my house, and 3. Might teach me some interesting fact I could use in a novel.
One of the cool things I found out was that birds that live in fields (near the ground, in grass) have songs and calls that sound more like insects, so a lot of clicking and whirring bird noises are from these types of birds.
