My own worst enemy . . .

Every writer is different. So things that work for or against one writer may not even be considerations for another.



My biggest issue as a writer, hands down, is that I am my own worst enemy.



I am hypercritical of the words I choose to put down on the page. I stare my characters down with unbearable scrutiny and ponder if they’re really acting the way they ought. I glare at my manuscripts and accuse them of being terrible, hackneyed pieces of drivel.



When I look at the works of artists I admire...
