Concerning a few lines and character beats relating to the Birds of Prey from the book "Justice League: Cry for Justice", such as Black Canary dissolving the JLA because her husband left, I was wondering if you and James Robinson had any animosity towards

Not at all, no. Listen, I’m not a fan of that series, but I AM a fan of James Robinson in general, I think he’s an amazing talent. Starman remains one of the ten best series DC has ever published, SHADE was fantastic, EARTH TWO is a blast. He’s brilliant.

More than that, he’s a supportive, kind, lovely colleague who does care deeply about diverse voices and characters.

One series I didn’t like wouldn’t change that. I’ll be frank, I only read the first issue, it wasn’t to my taste, so I can’t even say if I disliked the entire thing.

But James is a gracious, generous guy. Just as an example, he went out of his way on his recent serious with Vandal Savage to make absolutely certain that nothing in it invalidated Scandal Savage existing. He spoke to me privately and publicly to make sure I knew he respected that character and her story and my creation.

He didn’t have to do ANY of that, and most writers would not have troubled themselves. But it is typical James in every way. And because of that, the possibility of Scandal existing in the new52 is still there.

That’s James being thoughtful and generous.
