Comedy in writing

Having taken on the challenge of writing a novel with comedy, I have found this to be more difficult than expected. When having a conversation in real life, listening to jokes or hearing a funny story, what makes the humor just a bit more are the facial expressions and movements that help to create the moment. Taking the same thing and putting it to paper creates a flatness that takes some of the inteneded comedy and twists it into a ho-humm moment.

That has been a challenge with my new novel. I have completed the work and will begin edits in the next few months, with some of that making sure the humor stands the test of reading.
I have a few beta readers that will help me to reach the place I need to when it comes to that.
