The Mountain and the Armodon

Over the weekend I went to Smithers B.C. a bustling little town located in the Mountains well north of Vancouver. The best part of the trip for me, aside from seeing my brother and his wife, was sitting in their backyard late one day, drinking some tasty cider and talking about my book while the sun went down over the mountains in front of us. We talked about sales, the difficulties in getting reviews, the hurdles I need to overcome in writing the second book, and many other things. It was really enjoyable.

One of the points my brother brought up was that he though that Omodo deserved more stage time. This is the second or third time he’s mentioned this to me. I was already planning on giving the Armodon a greater role in the second book. Interestingly when I returned from my trip I found a facebook message from a reader who had just finished the book (I love encouraging messages). We exchanged messages — a brief discussion about characters. Interestingly Omodo came up again. I guess people can identify with his struggles and enjoy seeing him overcome these problems and come into his own.

I’m glad to get into these kind of discussions because they often help give me a sense of direction (as well as feed the fires of my passion for writing).
