It only hurts when I laugh

Two days of inactivity trying to sort out my hip out has been more than enough- last night I convinced husband to let me go up the gym & do a light 30 minute row. I used the following tactics:


Begging- “Please please let me go up, please”  - this wasn’t particularly dignified I have to admit


Bravado – “Look at me my hip is fine- look look I can jump up and down -ow ow ow- no that ow is an ow of pleasure not pain – no that’s not a tear rolling down my face”


Sheer craziness  - “I think my hip is bad because it’s missing activity- I need to row to make it better” – cue husband rolling eyes but by then I knew I’d won (he was too tired to fight me any longer) & I was running (hobbling) upstairs to put my kit on.


As it happens the 30 min row was fine. Felt good just to be moving & stretching a bit. Slight burning when I stood up but that passed & today feels marginally better than yesterday so doesn’t seem to have done any harm (fingers crossed).


But had a surprise listening to the Jillian Michaels’s podcast when I was rowing. I always think of her as uber fit. But in the podcast I swear she said she could only row 1000m in 10 minutes & after some training had got it down to 9min. I’m a slow rower but I row 1000m in 7mins – so yay I can beat Jillian Michaels at something. Would trade that for her abs though!
