I always struggle with book recs because I want to recommend EVERYTHING. Okay…

Some of my all-time favorites: Howl’s Moving Castle, Carter Beats the Devil, Dune, The Shipping News, A Song of Ice and Fire, American Gods

Books I always find myself talking about: Holly Black’s Curse Workers series, Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn (VERY DARK), The Lost City of Z (awesome nonfic)

For secondary world YA fantasy, try Megan Whalen Turner, Robin Hobb, Kristin Cashore, Rae Carson, Cinda Williams Chima, Maria V. Snyder, Garth Nix, Tamora Pierce, Sherwood Smith’s Crown Duel, also recent releases like Throne of Glass, Defiance, Grave Mercy

ftr, if people want recs, it always helps to know your reading mood. I go through phases: dark reads, comfort reads, romantic reads, etc.
