No prize this is just for fun. 'Best descriptive line'.

I want you  to tell me your favourite descriptive line in a book, one  that really paints an image in your head. It can be one you've written or just a line you like from another book. Don't forget to name the book title and author. I'll short list a few of the most descriptive lines and pick a winner to be announced next Friday. (if you are stuck - I'll allow two lines.)
